Years ago, someone I taught with thought my name was Art. I never corrected them, partly because I didn't want to feel their second hand embarrassment, but mostly because it was an ideal moniker, like some spiritual, symbolic renaming. My entire life, as early as I can remember, has been about art in one form or another. I'm here to create. It's what I do. It's the only way I know to express my love and passion for this world and all its beauty. To quote a line from American Beauty, "Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, like my heart is going to cave in."

Art is an innately human experience. And even though it's the one thing that separates us from all other living creatures on the planet, it brings us together through its power to tell stories and express thoughts, ideas, and emotions. But most importantly, it reminds us what it means to be human, creative thinkers, problem-solvers, whose lives are made valid through the stories we tell.
