National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a prestigious national organization that recognizes high school juniors and seniors who exemplify the four pillars of excellence: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Membership in NHS is both an honor and a commitment to continued growth in these core areas.

At Nathan Hale, students are invited to apply for NHS during the fall of their junior year. To be eligible, students must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher

  • Demonstrate a consistent record of positive behavior and good citizenship

  • Show evidence of leadership within school or community activities

  • Exhibit a strong commitment to service and volunteerism

Once accepted, members of NHS actively participate in service projects both within the school district and throughout the greater Milwaukee area. These activities are designed to promote civic responsibility, compassion, and engagement with the community.

Through NHS, students not only receive recognition for their achievements but also gain valuable opportunities to lead, serve, and make a meaningful difference.
