History of Nathan Hale
Nathan Hale High School had a very humble beginning, starting out as a small junior high school in temporary wooden barracks behind the Franklin Elementary School in 1930.
In September of 1933, the major part of the building (on 85th and West Lincoln Avenue) was ready for use and Hale occupied this up to the completion of the present new building.
In 1939, the junior high school became a junior-senior high school, and in 1942, the building on 85th and Lincoln was completed.
The new building at 116th and Lincoln was completed in 1965.
The name of Nathan Hale, along with its records, traditions, trophies, and colors, were transferred to the new building in 1965.
